I don't know if this is widely known in the US but although our Prime Minister Blair gives his full support to Bush's policy on Iraq, the majority of public opinion in the Uk is anti- war and more importanly for Blair most of his own party oppose his stance.
My own opinion is that Bush is just looking for a scapegoat for 9/11 and is not concerned how many innocent people die or suffer in the process of finding them.
As a (chistian) UK citizen I have every sympathy with the victims of 9/11 but I do not believe that President Bush's heavy handed approach will do anything but inflame the already volatile atmosphere in the region.
I am very familiar with how terrorism works as we have had to endure bomb attacks etc, from the IRA for the last 30 years but realise that these attacks are carried out by individuals and not on behalf of Countries.
The only way to end it is by negotiation, and by the use of intelligence services to seek out and arrest the real perpetrators of these attrocities.
I know it sounds boring and slow but it is the only answer.
